What ActiveTrak does well
ActiveTrak introduced the idea of productivity analytics to the monitoring space — it was one of the first tools to go beyond raw time tracking to analyze app usage patterns and provide productivity scores. For lightweight monitoring without screenshot capture, it remains a reasonable option.
The limitations of ActiveTrak
ActiveTrak's free plan is severely limited. The paid plans ($10-17/seat/month) are expensive compared to what you get. There is no AI coaching, no live stream, no screen recording on most plans. The interface, while functional, has not kept pace with modern design standards. Support response times have been a consistent complaint in user reviews.
Deskify's advantages
At $2.50/seat/month (Growth), Deskify includes everything ActiveTrak charges $10+ for, plus AI coaching, focus scoring, and screenshot monitoring. The Business plan at $7 adds live screen stream and screen recording. The product is built on a modern stack with a purpose-built AI microservice, not bolted-on analytics. And the employee self-service dashboard is a feature ActiveTrak lacks entirely.
